Grand Canyon Photo Prank Goes Viral

How would you react if your daughter texts you a photo showing her falling into Grand Canyon? I am sure you will be terrified just like Rebecca Busch of Westmont, Illinois. Fortunately for Rebecca, the photo was just a prank played on her by her 22-year-old daughter Samantha Busch.

The overprotective Rebecca was already nervous about her daughter Samantha’s trip to the Grand Canyon. But her anxiety shot through the roof when her daughter texted a photograph of herself hanging on for dear life on the edge of a cliff.

The prank photo that has gone viral

In the incredible image, Ms Busch was actually standing safely on a ledge as her boyfriend took the snap.

But Rebecca fell for the prank, claiming the photo nearly gave her a heart attack. The prank photo instantly went viral after Samantha posted it to Reddit with the caption, “Mom was worried about my trip to the Grand Canyon, I sent her this picture.”

“For five days up to when we left, my mom had warned me about falling off the cliff or being blown off,” Samantha told ABCNews.com. “So when we were hiking around the corner, I found a good spot where I could stand on the ledge. He angled the camera just right and he took a great picture.”

Her mom and all her co-workers, however, didn’t see the funny side.

“I messaged it to her first and she works for a medical auditing company and there are women who have known me since day one, and they freaked out over it also. I emailed it to them, too, and they were all freaking out over it saying I gave them a heart attack,” Samantha said.

To give the prank more credibility, Samantha turned off the GPS locator on her cell phone so her mom could not track her.

Samantha Busch  took a number of other amusing photos at the attraction with her boyfriend.

“I work for her, so constantly every single day we communicate over work stuff,” Busch explained. “So for the whole week I decided not to let her know where I’m at. I had to give her some practice to not know where I am every day.”

Luckily, Samantha’s mom has forgiven her.

“She’s fine. She wasn’t even angry. She was just relieved upset,” Samantha said.

But, despite the reaction, she insisted the prank wouldn’t be her last.

‘There’s no end to my pranking,’ Samantha told ABC.
