Jurassic World

It was about a year ago that I last watched a movie in the cinema and that was at GSC. Though it opened for business last year, I have not patronized TGV Cinemas at the Permaisuri Imperial City Mall until today when I went to watch Jurassic World.

Grossing $204.6 million dollars during opening weekend, Jurassic World became the 2nd highest domestic opening of all time in US behind Marvel’s The Avengers ($207.4). However, with a $511 million global opening, it became the highest global opening of all time.

Jurassic World, directed by Colin Trevorrow, is the fourth installment in the Jurassic Park film series. The film stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D’Onofrio, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson, Omar Sy, B.D. Wong, and Irrfan Khan.

In the film, Jurassic World has now become a fully functional dinosaur theme park. However, Jurassic World’s attendance begins to wane. With stagnant revenue streams but escalating costs, the owners of the park have to create a bigger genetically-modified species to re-spark visitor interest. Unfortunately, all hell breaks loose in the park when the new genetically-created dinosaur Indominus Rex breaks loose from captivity and runs rampant across the park. The movie culminated in the final showdown fight that includes an aggregation of dinosaurs.

The visually impressive movie combines top notch state-of-the-art special effects, a genetically engineered deadly dinosaur and heart-pounding action. Once the movie starts, you are like on a roller-coaster ride.

I have to admit that I did enjoy the movie despite initial misgivings that this is more of a kids’ movie. Jurassic World is a satisfying movie with enough thrills and excitement to keep you on the edge of your seat. Oh yes, the seats at TGV are pretty comfortable!

Here is a trailer of the movie. Enjoy!
