Lady Luck Smiled On Me Today

I just got back to my brother’s house after visiting my father’s grave for Ching Ming. I can hardly contain my excitement at my amazing find earlier this morning.

I flew from Miri to Kuching last night and was up early this morning. With my Canon camera in hand, I  took a stroll in my brother’s garden to see if there was anything interesting to photograph.

I was walking near the brick wall at the back of the garden when I kicked something. I looked down and saw something protruding out.  Upon closer examination, I saw that it was a plastic bag. I dug it out and it was heavy.

I brought the plastic bag to the sink behind my brother’s house and washed away the mud and soil. To my utter amazement, the whole plastic bag contained coins. Pouring the coins into sink, I found out that the coins were all one-cent Sarawak coins from the Brooke era. There must be at least a thousand coins.

I realized that I may have hit a small jackpot as the coins could be worth a small fortune.  I will sort them out and sell them on Ebay when I go back to Miri. It is going to keep me busy for quite a few weeks selling all those coins on Ebay.

Oops! With AirAsia strictly enforcing the 7 kg limit for carry-on luggage, I will probably need to pay the RM200 penalty. On the other hand, what is RM200 when I can probably make a small fortune on these coins.
