She May Have Died But ‘She’ Lives On

This is so sad and yet so uplifting at the same time. The photos of a father and mother kissing their dying little girl goodbye has touched millions around the world. Just in case you are wondering why all the medic people in the photo are bowing, the reason is because  two small children  are able to live thanks to the little girl’s kidneys and liver.

These photos have touched millions around the world.

At 17:30 on June 9, the father gave his last kiss to the forehead of her daughter at Chifeng City Hospital’s operating theatre before the surgery to remove the little girl’s kidneys and liver to save another two other children.

As he stroked her daughter’s face, the father broke down in tears and sobbed uncontrollably.

When the daughter was born, she was diagnosed to be suffering from hypoxic-ischemic cerebral palsy, a type of brain damage that affects various cognitive and physiological functions, and can also cause death. It often stems from oxygen deprivation to the brain during a difficult labor and delivery. The consequences can be severe and can include life-long complications. When a baby is deprived of oxygen during labor and delivery for over a five-minute period of time they can suffer from many types of long-term damage including learning disabilities, delayed development, mental retardation, epilepsy, poor motor coordination seizures, and cerebral palsy.

Mother Wang Xiaofei told reporters between sobs that rather than just letting her daughter be cremated, it is better to donate the organs so that other children could live.

After more than an hour of organ removal surgery at Chifeng City Hospital, Inner Mongolia, the organs were rushed to Tianjin First Central Hospital where the donated organs were successfully transplanted to the two Tianjin children.

The parents may have lost their daughter but by their selfless act, they have given life and hope to two other children. The daughter is dead but her organs live on. May she rest in peace!
