Stairway to heaven,
Led Zeppelin’s iconic anthem,
Hailed as one of the greatest rock songs of all time,
Showcasing the band at its prime,
An epic at eight minutes long,
The pinnacle of a hard rocking song,
Crystallising the band’s essence,
It is the One, the quintessence.

Beginning in a slow acoustic fingerpicking tempo,
In an arrangement never heard before,
Gradually moving into a slow middle section,
When electric instruments get into action,
Jimmy Page’s intricate guitar solo,
Accompanying Robert Plant’s amazing vocal,
Climaxing in the final section that is so uptempo,
With Plant’s voice bordering on falsetto.

Always shrouded in mystery,
Arousing much controversy in its history,
Appearing rather dark at the seams,
Abstraction and spirit quest appear to be its themes,
A song about a woman getting everything,
But not wanting to give back anything,
Fusion of hard rock with the classical,
Making the song so lyrical.

  1. You are very flexible. Seems you can write poems on many themes. GB
