Goodbye 2022 Hello 2023!

It is New Year Eve again. 2022 seemed to have passed so quickly. As we ceremoniously say goodbye to 2022 and hello to 2023, we pay homage to the New Year Eve rite with thoughts of the year gone by and hopes for the year to come.

As 2022 comes to an end, I marvel at how it went by in a flash. As I look back at 2022, only a few things stand out.

Throughout 2022, I derived a lot of pleasure from my bird photography.  I also managed to photograph quite a number of lifers during the course of the year. I met a few outstation photographers when they were in Miri and became friends with them: Henry Lu and Robert Tiong from Kota Kinabalu and Ricky Choo from Pahang.  Patrice Maurice and his wife, whom I met at Piasau Nature Reserve about 3 years ago, came back to visist Miri again in early December. It was great to meet up with them again .

In April, my granddaughter celebrated her first birthday. My biggest regret for 2022 is not being able to celebrate her birthday with her in Sydney. She is now just a few days shy of 21 months but I still have not seen her in person. I have only seen her in thousands of photos as well as in video calls.

In late July and late August, I went to Kuching with my wife and my son Leslie. On both trips, we spent a few enjoyable days in Kuching and tasted a lot of Kuching food.

During the course of 2022,  I finally took action to print a few photobooks for my granddaughter Kayla, for my bird photography and for my family trips overseas in the past few years. It was time consuming but it was worth the effort.

On December 12, I tested positive for Covid. It was a mild strain as I did not experience fever, coughing or sore throat. But I felt very stressed and tired on the first couple of days.

December 25 was my Ruby Wedding Anniversary. My wife, my son Leslie and I celebrated the ocassion with a dinner at Vibes In Paradise.

December 27 was my 65th birthday. I wish to express my gratitude to my nephew Terrence Lim for treating me and my family to a sumptuous dinner at King’s City together with my eldest brother Tian and my sister-in-law Chris ( Terrence’s parents).

In two hours’ time, 2022 will be over. It is a time to reminisce about 2022 and look forward to a fresh start in 2023. I wish that you will all experience great things in 2023. May you all be blessed with abundance in all areas of your life in 2023!
