Goodbye September Hello October

Canadian autumn

Canadian autumn

Today heralds the beginning of the last quarter of the year

Like sunset at the end of a day the setting of the year is now so near

October is a month of contemplation

And also a month of celebration.

October is my favourite month of the year

For it is the birthday month of people I hold so dear

When I say happy birthday to my wife my two sons and my daughter-in-law

Feelings of love seem to set me aglow.

October reminds me of autumn in Canada

A country over which I seem to be so gaga

With maple leaves ablaze in gold

What a heavenly sight to behold.

When October makes her entrance

Nature exerts her trance

Showering us with the most amazing forest tapestry

With September pushed into the annals of history.

Goodbye September goodbye

Your time has gone by

Hello October hello

It’s showtime my dear fellow.
